Program: Bachelor of Arts
The Interior Design undergraduate degree program is dedicated to the education of responsible professionals by responsible professionals. The undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in a CIDA accredited first-professional degree program.

First Year Pre-Portfolio Review
The four year program is divided into a first year -Interior Design experience followed by a submittal to program portfolio review. At the completion of the required first year courses students are required to submit and pass a portfolio review to matriculate to the second year. Failure to pass the portfolio review prohibits students from advancing in the program.

The objectives of the First Year program are to prepare students for the rigors of the major, and to establish individual student goals, and to enable students to comprehend the complexities of the profession.

Interior Design: Bachelors of Arts
Upon successful completion of the portfolio review ID majors will require a minimum of three additional years to complete the major. The goal of the program is to foster a lifelong learning experience that will provide the foundations which a practicing professional will utilize based on the concepts, skills and principles acquired in the college setting. In addition to the basic knowledge required by CIDA accreditation, KSU/ID promotes a depth of understanding in those courses that help establish the responsibility of the interior designer in providing for the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Theoretical, historical, and practice curricula are woven together to establish the interrelatedness of each of the courses. Each student is required to complete an internship after the conclusion of the third year courses and before graduation. The application of the academic learning in the professional practice setting is a concept embraced by the interior design faculty, alumni and supporters of the program.

A potential student may enter this CIDA-accredited program directly as an Interior Design major in the fall semester of the freshmen year if they meet the entrance requirements. Acceptance into the second year of the program is through a portfolio review as detaild on the next page. If an entering student does not meet the entrance requirements they can enter the college as an AEDG-ID (general) until they have met the requirements to declare Interior Design as a major -- usually at the end of the freshman year.
