SCHOLARSHIPS: College of Architecture and Environmental Design
The College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) has a number of scholarships awarded each year.  These scholarships are generated by endowments given by generous alumni, architects, and friends of the CAED.  They range from $300 to $6000 and are usually awarded to upper class students.  The CAED has no first year scholarships.

Financial Aid and the Honors College

Students with financial need should contact the University Financial Aid Office.

Students with high academic success are encouraged to join the University Honors College and apply for academic scholarships, since the majority of non-need University scholarships are given by the Honors College.  These Honors College scholarships are generally larger than the CAED scholarships, and are often for housing, tuition, etc.

Many AIA local and state chapters offer scholarships to residents of their region.  Please check with your hometown or state chapter to acquire application forms for these scholarships.

Application process for CAED scholarships

The process for awarding the CAED scholarships begins each October.  The application is for the following Fall semester.  This timing allows third year students going to Italy in the Spring an opportunity to participate.  The application form lists the scholarships, asks students academic information, financial information, and professional career interests.  With this information, a committee of faculty independently evaluates which students should receive each scholarship.  The scholarships are always awarded for the following year.  The money for the scholarships is transferred late in the Summer, or early Fall to the individual student’s bursar account and can be used for tuition, fees, or other educational expenses.

Italy Scholarships

Scholarships which apply only for the Italy experience have a separate application form.  These applications are distributed by the faculty in charge of the Italy program.

Students receiving scholarships are required by the University to write letters to the endowment donors, thanking them for their financial assistance prior to the transfer of the financial award.
